Designer of the Month Contest is back in full swing again after a few years offline. With so many new sites online from quality designers, I just could not resist bringing back the competition. Frankly I should have never dropped it from the site, but there was just too much going on in developing new content for our site these last few years.
CreativePublic is looking for top quality custom designed portfolio and design resource Web sites for Web design & development studios, design firms, ad agencies, freelance designers, animators, photographers, illustrators and other creative professionals. Each month we will host the TOP-10 Web sites by recognizing these designers for their accomplishments in design work and/or the resources they provide to the design industry. This is a great opportunity to receive free exposure for your site and your business!
If you have a portfolio or design resource Web site to submit, please review what is required:
* The site must be custom designed and not a template site, we also accept blogs like WordPress as long as they are custom designed and not just a basic modified WordPress template.
* The site must be a portfolio of your design work or a design related resource site.
* We DO NOT accept vendor sites such as hosting providers or stock photo sites.
* If you don’t have a Web site, but you know of a cool design or resource site, please send it too us.
NOTE: If your site does not make the TOP-10 for the month you submitted your site, we will keep your site in the pool of submissions and your site could be included in one of the following months.

When I was looking for work as a designer I used a long, drawn-out cover letter that got little results. But when I shortened it (after MUCH experimenting) and just gave them some short “teaser” (meaning I left more out then I put in) copy it worked like gangbusters.

I enclose my resume in response to your recent advertisement for Part-Time Adjunct Faculty positions at GCC. My experience is most relevant to electronic/digital imaging and Web design.
As my resume shows, I offer over 12 years of experience in marketing and design for large companies like Xerox and ABB to smaller, more dynamic organizations like Meansbusiness and Freshdesign, Inc. I have worked in all phases of design and communications (including partnership alliances) from initial concept to final product in channels as diverse as print, radio, web and multimedia.
You can reach me at my office during business hours or at home during evenings and weekends. Thank you for your consideration.
I ran across this video in the sitepoint.com newsletter today. This is amazing how ignorant people are these days, they don’t even know what a Web browser is and they use it every freaking day!!!! As a Web designer, I run into this same issue with many of my clients and it gets frustrating trying to educate these people over and over on just basic everyday Internet related things. It is quite amazing to me how ignorant most people are to the basics of technology. I am surprised that they can even turn on their computer, much less type.
This is a really cool FREE tool I ran across today called mockingbird. It has a clean setup and great functionality and in my opinion is a useful tool, especially when mocking up a larger site before going into the design phase. I also think this would be a good tool to provide to your customers so they can go in and mess around on what they think they want on their web site.
